RS JAPAN OPEN 2021!!

On November 6th, the RS All Japan Championships, sponsored by the Japan RS Association, was held under beautiful sunny skies. 39 boats, representing 9 RS sailing types, gathered at Morito Beach!

This year, participants came from Hayama, Kamakura, Enoshima, Shimizu, and Osaka.

Members of Hayama SC have also been practicing together, from those who started sailing last year to veteran sailors.

The members of the Shimizu Port Yacht Association seem to be enjoying yachting together!

The person riding the RS700 is wearing a playful mask!

There will be two practice races. All nine boat types will start at the same time!

The 5m/s northerly wind gradually weakened, but it seemed to be good practice for those chartering RSaero for the first time.

The main race took place on the 7th. There was a relatively stable northerly wind compared to recent days, and four races were held.

Spectator boats were anchored in the middle of the course as obstacles, giving a good view of the race, and the cheers of their families seemed to encourage the athletes!

RSaero, which had the most participating boathouses, saw close battles all over the place.

For lightweight riders, the aero5 is perfect.

Kamo-san on the RS700 completed the tough race of three laps and four races. As expected!

In the RSFeva and RSTera classes, children competed alongside adults in all four races!

Taro from Hayama SC also struggled to decide on the size of the sale, but he did his best by choosing the large sale TeraPro!

The north wind picked up a little in the final race, causing some boats to sink, but it was still a very exciting race.

The RS500 pair of Shimizu's Washiyama and Tsunoda have experience in many different types of boats, and their light running made it hard to believe it was their first time chartering the boat.

After the four races, the awards ceremony was held on the beach.

Third place went to Washiyama and Tsunoda from Shimizu! Congratulations!

Second place went to Kaneda from Shimizu SC, a former Snipe Masters World Champion!

He easily navigated the chartered boat RSaero, and in his speech said that the RSaero was a very good boat and that he would like young people to ride it.

The 2021 winner is Okano from Kinki University, Osaka! It's been a while since RSaero, but he won thanks to his daily practice and youth.

My parents, who came all the way from Osaka to support me, were also very happy! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the RSGames has been postponed for a long time, so I'm glad that the All Japan Championships were able to be held. Now, let's get practicing again as we head into the winter season!
