Competent Crew Course in January

Learn to sail a cruiser!
The January session of the ISPA Competent Crew Course was held.

This course is held three times a year, but every year we are forced to endure the stormy weather.
We were blessed with good weather all three times!

The first step is to check the boat's rigging.
For those of you with dinghy experience, there are many other things to check on a cruiser besides the sails.

Also check how to start the engine, the location of the electrical switches, and the coolant intake route.

While at sea, we practiced how to raise and lower sails and how to anchor in the bay.

The second day is a review of the skills you have learned.

We prepared the boat and practiced launching and landing.

We also went on a short cruise to Enoshima to practice sailing.

On the third day, we checked safety and recovered from any problems.
We learned how to deal with emergencies, such as how to deal with problems when they occur and how to ensure safety during bad weather.
By the third day, everyone had gotten the hang of crew work.

The January Competent Crew Course has now been successfully completed.
Thank you to everyone who participated.

The next event is scheduled for March.
There are still a few spaces available, so if you'd like to take the course, apply early!
