Oshima Cruising

It's been a while since my last long cruise, and this time I went to Oshima.

It had been raining for days until the day before, but the weather was nice from the morning of the 24th (Saturday), the day of departure.

Around Morito Beach, winds are blowing from the north at around 6 to 7 m/s.

We set off with a moderate northerly breeze.

Our destination this time is Nomasu Port on Oshima Island.
Visibility is good and Oshima is clearly visible from the moment we set off.

Sailing on the North Wind

We pass Jogashima smoothly.

As we began to see less land around us, the wind began to calm down a bit.

By the way, there is a forecast of very strong winds around Oshima.

If we go too slow, it will be difficult in the strong winds, so let's increase our speed by using motor sails.

As we approached Oshima, we were hit by strong winds just as predicted!

This is becoming amazing.

The headwind and current blocked the boat's path, making it impossible to move forward.

At this rate, we probably won't make it in time for sunset.

We quickly evacuated to nearby Okada Port.

We managed to arrive before it got dark.

thank you for your hard work.

First day's track

It was getting late, so I just ate dinner.

The familiar "Zagoya Kiyomaru."

Thank you for the meal.

This is where we're staying this time.
Tachibana-so

Thank you for your help.

the next day.

It seems like the strong winds have died down.

That said, the wind is blowing at about 7m/s.

The wind was so strong the day before that it felt like we were just sailing normally.

We tack and head towards Morito Beach, defying the headwind.

As we got further away from Oshima, the wind gradually calmed down.

In the end, we returned home peacefully under motor sail.

arrival.

Here is the return journey
