Three members from HSC participated in the National Junior High School Yacht Championship, which was held at Inage Yacht Harbor from July 28th to 30th!
It's the national championship for junior high school yacht clubs.
HSC members are recommended by their junior high school principals,
I was able to participate.
I participated in the OP, Mini Hopper, and Sea Hopper SR categories.
Inage Yacht Harbor is large and has three ramps.
It is quite difficult as you have to repeatedly tack through the narrow channel at the back right and head out to sea.
We prepared carefully for the race! The wind was quite strong, and the practice race was over 10m.
The first day of the race also saw a good wind of around 6 to 8 meters.
The parents who accompanied the children will help launch the boat.
Each class flag and the D flag are raised and the boats are launched in order.
The last boat to leave is OP.
The Sea Hopper starts first, followed by the Mini Hopper, and finally the OP.
After the two races, the wind dropped to about 10m/s, so there were no races in the afternoon.
On the second day, four races were held in good winds of 5 to 8 meters!
In the heat, the junior high school students put up a fierce battle.
From HSC, SARA from Seahopper SR won the women's division.
Jun from Mini Hopper is expected to come in 4th place!
Taro was suffering from heatstroke and not feeling too well, but he was able to participate in all the races.
My fellow yacht enthusiasts cheered me on, and I could see their happy smiles!
The tournament for junior high school students alone was refreshing and provided a good opportunity for growth.
We would like to thank the many people who helped run the event over the three days in the heat, including the junior high school teachers.
Thank you so much for giving me such a great opportunity!
To all the parents, it was so hot! Thank you for supporting the children!!
