The RS Japan Open 2021, sponsored by the Japan RS Class Association, was held on November 6th (Sat) and 7th (Sun) at Morito Beach in Hayama. Two practice races were held on November 6th, followed by four main races on November 7th. The tournament attracted the largest number of entries to date, with 39 boats and 48 participants, including regular sailors from Hayama, Enoshima, Kamakura, Osaka, and Shimizu, as well as first-timers. The race was a mixed race with nine boats of various types, including 18 RS Aeros, 7 RS Fevas, 4 RS Teras, 3 RS Zests, 2 RS Vareos, 2 RS Qubas, and one RS500, RS700, and RS Quest. The wind was northeasterly with occasional shifts to the north, but was stable at an average speed of 6m/s. Spectator cruisers were also cheering loudly from the race area. The overall winner was Yudai Okano (Kindai University) in RS Aero5, a young sailor who joined last year's tournament. Second place went to Hirotaka Kaneda (Shimizu Port Yacht Association) in RS Aero7. Third place went to the Washiyama/Kakuta pair (Shimizu Port Yacht Association) in RS 500. Fourth place went to Kazuya Suzuki (Hayama Sailing College) in RS Aero5, who has been active since competing in the RS Aero Worlds in Melbourne. Fifth place went to Akihiro Nakamizo (Shimizu Port Yacht Association) in RS Aero7, a young sailor who masters the latest boats in the competition. Topping the RS Tera rankings was Taro Yukai (Hayama Sailing College), a promising junior who has also competed in world championships, who placed sixth. Topping the two-seater RS ​​Feva rankings was the Murata/Hikiji pair, juniors from Enoshima, who placed eighth.
