At the Hayama Sea Kayak Club, we plan a large-scale tour once a year and go paddling to various places. This year , we went to Zasahama Beach in Mie Prefecture on the Kii Peninsula for a three-day, two-night trip! The coastline of Zasahama is magnificent, and we were really looking forward to paddling a kayak there!
Day 1 (October 29th)
Unfortunately, due to the effects of Typhoon No. 20, swells were expected in the open sea, so we quickly changed our plans and hiked the Kumano Kodo trail to Magose Pass and back. While watching my steps as I made my way down, I discovered a huge earthworm over 50cm long! It's amazing how big it is when it grows in the wild! Scary (><)>>>
Day 2 ( October 30th )
This is the view from the base camp, Lodge Sarakuwa, early in the morning. Everyone pitched their tents on the wooden deck in their own way. The swell has died down and we are finally heading to Zasahama! We are so glad the weather is good!
The ria-shaped Furuura Bay is very quiet, like a lake.
There was not a single soul on Zasahama Beach. All that stood out were the driftwood and fishing gear that had washed up on the shore.
Arrived at Zasahama Beach! Set up the tent and prepare for camping. Take a short break before dinner. The campfire is truly soothing to the soul.
Now let's prepare dinner. Dinner is curry rice and salad. It's so delicious that I ended up having seconds.
At night, we had a great time talking about kayaking around the campfire.
Day 3 ( October 31st )
Rain was forecast for the final day, so we returned to Lodge Sarakuwa early. The curved coastline of Zasahama hides houses far in the distance. I wish I could have paddled the kayak a little longer.
A group photo before the event ended. This is the car that was used this time. Thank you to everyone who came all the way to Mie Prefecture and helped with cooking meals and transporting the many items, which allowed us to complete the event safely! We look forward to seeing you again!
